A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain name, such as name.example.com. Actually, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is just "example.com". Each subdomain could have its own website and records and can even be hosted using a different company if you wish to use a certain feature that's not provided by your current provider. An example for using a subdomain is if you have a company site and an online store under a subdomain where customers can acquire your products. Additionally, you can have a forum in which they can comment on the products and by using subdomains instead of subfolders you will avoid any risk of all websites going down when you perform maintenance, or update one of the site scripts. Keeping the websites separated is also less risky in the case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Shared Web Hosting

Every shared web hosting package we supply will enable you to create hundreds of subdomains with no more than a couple of clicks inside your website hosting Control Panel. They are going to be listed in the section in which you create them and arranged under the main domain for more convenience, to help you very easily monitor them all. Additionally, you can access a lot of functions for any one of the subdomains using right-click context menus - for example, you can view or edit their DNS records, access the site files, plus much more. While creating a new subdomain, you're also going to have lots of options that you can pick from - specify the default access folder, create unique error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions or choose if the subdomain is going to use a shared or a dedicated IP address. The number of subdomains you are going to have is 100 % up to you as we have not restricted this feature for any one of our plans.
